Warehouse safety by the numbers

Warehousing and distribution are consistently one of the highest-risk sectors for workplace injuries. In fact, in the United States, warehouse employee days away or on restricted duty (DART) due to work-related injuries have historically sat at more than double the all-industry private sector average.

Forklifts are at the centre of much of this risk. OSHA estimates that roughly 70% of forklift accidents could be prevented through better training, awareness and operational controls.

The gap between: “I know these risks exist” and “I can catch these before someone gets hurt” is exactly where inviol fits in.

What inviol detects in your warehouse

Every warehouse has its own layout, policies and pressure points. inviol’s computer vision AI adapts to your environment and detects the specific risks that matter most on your site.

Vehicle speed

Monitors forklift and vehicle speeds across defined zones and flags when thresholds are exceeded. Gives you data on where speeding actually happens, not where you assume it does.

Machine exclusion zone

Dynamic detection zones that adapt based on what machinery is doing, flagging when people enter areas where active equipment creates risk.

Loading and unloading zones

Monitors dock and loading areas for unsafe interactions between vehicles, pedestrians and equipment during high-pressure loading and unloading operations.

Manual handling

Flags unsafe lifting practices and ergonomic risk events for review, helping identify patterns before they lead to musculoskeletal injuries.

PPE compliance

Detects missing hard hats, high-vis vests and other required PPE in designated areas, logged with video evidence for coaching follow-up

Pedestrian-forklift proximity

Monitors pedestrian-forklift interactions in real time, flagging near-misses and close calls before they escalate. This is the single biggest source of warehouse injuries and one that traditional reporting almost always misses.

How it works

inviol connects to your existing CCTV cameras via standard RTSP feeds. There’s no need to replace your cameras, install sensors on forklifts or run new cabling. A small hardware unit sits alongside your existing recorder and analyses footage in real time, on-site. Only event details and short video clips leave the premises (which means 99% of your data stays on-site, and worker identities are protected with automatic face blurring).

When inviol detects a safety event, it logs the event with a 20-30 second video clip, a risk rating and context about what happened. Those events flow into a coaching queue where your team leads can review, triage and turn them into targeted coaching conversations or toolbox meeting content. No more trawling through hours of CCTV. No more relying on someone being in the right place at the right time.

The result is a shift from reactive safety management to proactive risk reduction.

Most sites are fully live within one to two weeks.

What inviol can detect in your warehouse

Every warehouse has its own layout, policies and pressure points. inviol's computer vision AI adapts to your environment and detects the specific risks that matter most on your site. Common detection scenarios include:

Pedestrian-forklift proximity

The most dangerous moments in any warehouse happen when people and machines share space. inviol monitors pedestrian-forklift interactions in real time, flagging near-misses and close calls before they escalate. This is the single biggest source of serious warehouse injuries (and one that traditional reporting almost always misses).

Exclusion zone breaches

Whether it's a charging bay, a high-traffic loading lane or an area with overhead crane activity, inviol detects when someone enters a zone they shouldn't be in and logs the event with video evidence for follow-up coaching.

PPE compliance

Hard hats, high-vis vests, safety footwear. inviol detects missing PPE in defined areas and captures the moment on video (with blurred faces), so coaching conversations are grounded in real situations, rather than assumptions.

Loading and unloading zone activity

Dock areas are consistently high-risk zones due to the mix of reversing vehicles, pedestrians, uneven surfaces and time pressure. inviol monitors these areas continuously and flags unsafe interactions that supervisors would otherwise never see.

Speeding and unsafe vehicle behaviour

A forklift travelling too fast through a blind corner or intersection is one of those risks everyone knows about but nobody sees consistently. inviol tracks vehicle speed across defined zones, giving you data on where and when speeding actually happens (not just where you think it happens).

Manual handling and ergonomic risk

Repeated unsafe lifting practices contribute to musculoskeletal injuries, which remain one of the most common and costly warehouse injury types. inviol can flag manual handling events for review, helping identify patterns before they become chronic issues.
